I always start with paper....lots of paper.....spontaneously arranged on the canvas in bursts of movement and expression....free from any rationale or plan......what emerges is intuitive, expressive and true....then using any medium that inspires....paint, pastel, fingers, graphite.....more papers....work the piece...always staying open to your OWN expression in that moment.....
